  • Christoph Klenzendorf christens his new venue, KaterHolzig, with a typical Bar25 three-day party. After three summers of closing parties following its Mediaspree-induced eviction notice, Berlin's infamous after-hours haunt Bar25 finally shut it doors in 2010. For his new venture Klenzendorf has simply crossed over to the other side of the Spree. Setting up in the grounds of an old soap factory opposite the old Bar25 site, KaterHolzig will open its doors for the first time this weekend, in true Bar25 fashion. Known for opening on Friday and staying that way well into Monday, KaterHolzig will begin life in much the same vein. Beginning gently on the Saturday, Down By The River Festival will host a range of folk and pop acts before easing into the venue's electronic program, due to carry on the party until Monday. A slew of acts will be paying homage to this new chapter in Bar25's hedonistic history, along with a number of its associate label artists such as Acid Pauli, Beaner and Channel X. Outside of Berlin, French house duo Masomenos will be present, plus two teams from the US Voices of Black and Slow Hands. Elsewhere Shitkatapult's latest force The Sorry Entertainers will be playing with 22Rockets—one of a number of pairings billed for the weekend.
