- The producer's first album appears in full next month.
Marc Antona will unveil his debut album, Rules of Madness, in August.
Having produced and released on labels such as Mobilee, Freak N'Chic and Highgrade in the past, Antona has chosen to release his first full-length through his own nascent label Dissonant which he started only last year. The Frenchman has already released three EPs on the label, including a vinyl sampler entitled Rules of Madness - Part 1 which features three of the tunes on his forthcoming ten track LP. (The rest of the tracks will also be released—in addition to the CD—on three further vinyl cuts and a mixed CD at the end of August and into September.)
The album, which was composed from Antona's studio in Ibiza, is about "creating musical trips … and making [people] enjoy the changes of moods: from happiness to melancholy, from energy-pumping moments to relaxing deep waves." He feels that the location of the LP's genesis lent itself to such oscillation—"[there is] so much contrast between the peaceful nature and the amazing clubbing scene, with so much energy, that ideas are plentiful." The Iberian influence on the album is apparent throughout; the tracks draw upon an eclectic range of sounds, such as analogue field recordings, organic hand claps and sampled vocals, while remaining firmly rooted in the dance floor.
