  • Riton will launch a new record label, Ritontime, on August 15th. The Newcastle-born DJ and producer announced plans for his label project today. The title is, of course, in reference to his own DJ name which has become increasingly well-known in recent years following his remixes for the likes of M.I.A. and Chromeo, the success of his Carte Blanche collaboration with DJ Mehdi and work with Soulwax on audio-visual project Die Verboten, alongside his own releases. Smithson intends to release a new single on the label every month from August. "I've been studying the business models of all the labels I've previously been signed to. Ed Banger, Turbo, Modular, DFA, Get Physical, Phantasy Sound and Atlantic, and decided that I would have a go myself. I reckon this could be legend." Riton has promised collaborations with the likes of Canblaster, Cocknbullkid, Sneaky Sound System and Scru Fizza. The debut release, however, is a collaboration with Shani Cuppcake. Tracklist 01. Dark Place (Feat. Shani Cuppcake) 02. A.C.P. 03. Dark Place (Wafa Remix) Ritontime will release Dark Place/A.C.P., on August 15th, 2011.
