  • London-based techno artist Perc will head off on a brief tour of North America next week in advance of his upcoming album. Alistair Wells has been producing music under his Perc alias for almost a decade, with appearances on a number of techno labels including CLR and Stroboscopic Artefacts (as well as an upcoming collaboration with Italy's Giorgio Gigli on Electric Deluxe), but his main focus is his own Perc Trax label, which he founded in 2004. The imprint has followed Perc's penchant for rough, atmospheric techno while taking in hints of industrial and dubstep sounds. Last month saw Perc Trax release Sawf's debut album, and Perc himself is preparing his first full-length release through the label in May. The itinerary for his North American tour is short, but it will be the first time Perc road-tests material from his forthcoming album (whose title remains unannounced). The jaunt begins this Friday with his Chicago debut at Smart Bar alongside fellow UK techno DJ's Gary Beck and Hans Bouffmyhre. The following night, he'll head to New York for a party with Perc Trax artist Jeff Derringer and German producer Milton Bradley, who will be making his North American debut. After a weekend off, Perc will head to Montreal, bringing his live set to a Circus Afterhours party.
