- The former Wighnomy Brother will release Wuppdeckmischmampflow next year.
Kompakt will release a new mix CD by Robag Wruhme in January, entitled Wuppdeckmischmampflow.
Hailing from the small German city of Jena, Wruhme is a longtime staple of the local imprint Freund am Tanzen (and its sub-label, Musik Krause). He's best known as half of the Wighnomy Brothers, his long-running duo with Soeren Bodner, one of the most widely-loved DJ teams of the '00s. After 17 years of playing together, the pair split up last year, with Bodner donning his Monkey Maffia guise and Wruhme setting out under his own name. Wuppdeckmischmampflow will be the first full-length from either artist since they went their separate ways.
As a quick glance at the tracklist will tell you, Wruhme gets pretty busy on this mix. Most of the tracks weave together multiple records, and some tunes rear their heads more than once, such as Villalobos' bittersweet classic "Dexter." Wruhme also throws in a few of his own reworks (or "Smapelschatulls"), including one of Four Tet's "Angel Echoes." The compilation shows him coming further into the Kompakt fold: though he's been DJing at their parties and has appeared on a few of their compilations, this will be his first CD for the esteemed Cologne-based label.
