  • Chicagoan DJ and producer Mazi Namvar will release his next LP, Hip Shake Heartache, next month under his Audio Soul Project guise. Namvar has hardly ever slowed down since his debut more than 15 years ago, releasing at least a few 12-inches per year under his own name and as Audio Soul Project. A longtime staple of Bristol's NRK Sound Division, he also had a hand in the now-defunct Afterhours imprint and co-founded Fresh Meat Records in 2005. As a producer and a DJ, his style is straight out of Chicago: club-ready house with lots of soulful vocals. Hip Shake Heartache will be Namvar's first album in nine years, following his debut full-length Community on NRK. According to a press release, the record tells a "personal story of old friends, music, treason, relationships, endings and new beginnings," through the music itself and also in a "graphic novelette" written by Namvar and illustrated by local artist Ernesto Perez that comes packaged with the record. Guest appearances come from veteran house vocalists Alexander East and Ron Carroll, as well as Namvar's fellow Fresh Meat founder Nathan Drew Larsen. Tracklist 01. Mnemosyne 02. Have It All Dub 03.
