- The San Francisco minimalist has a classically-tinged LP in the pipeline.
Sutekh is set to release On Bach, an album inspired by the music of Johannes Sebastian Bach.
The album was born out of an event Sutekh played in Paris last year called "Bach to the Moon," where a group of artists each performed their own interpretation of Bach's music. As the only electronic musician on the bill, Sutekh approached the task from a number of different angles; playing baroque-style arpeggios, toying with MIDI data of Bach's chorales and even paying homage to the 20th century Bach interpreter Glenn Gould. In the end Sutekh was so happy with his performance that he decided to continue developing it after the concert, eventually leading to his new full-length.
On Bach will be Sutekh's first album in eight years, following 2002's Incest Live on Force Inc. Music Works. Though his output has slowed over the past few years, Sutekh is an established producer of experimental-leaning electronic music, with past releases on M-nus, Soul Jazz and Mille Plateux's Clicks & Cuts series. His new album will see release on the Swiss label Creaked Records.
