  • Detroit house producer Rick Wade is slotted in for an Australian tour later this year, playing dates in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney in mid November. Wade cut his musical teeth as radio DJ at the University of Michigan in the '90s. Though he grew up listening to Chicago house, it was upon discovering 313 alumni like Jeff Mills and Mike Banks that he found his calling. Since then, the American has gone on to become a major proponent of Detroit house, blending the city's loopy techno heritage with Chicago-styled house in his productions and DJ sets. While in Australia, Wade will be unveiling a music-art collaboration he undertook with US visual artist Abdul Qadim Haqq and Japanese animator Shinichiro Watanabe. The project, titled Requiem For A Soul, comprises of a book and accompanying mix CD – mixed by Wade – that will be launched in Australia. At this at this stage, though, details around the project remain scarce. Wade will kick off his Australian tour with a date in Adelaide on November 12th. Sets in Melbourne and Sydney will follow over the next two nights. The Croft Institute will host the Melbourne leg, while Picnic will be using an undisclosed inner city location for the Sydney stop on Wade's tour.
