- The old school house imprint's first release features the Hercules & Love Affair frontman alongside Jason Kendig of Honeysoundsystem.
Andrew Butler of Hercules & Love Affair has revealed details for a new house label called MR. INTL, with a single due for release at the end of this month.
According to a press release, the label draws inspiration exclusively from the early days of house and techno. "I want to evoke strictly that sound on this label, so I've been pretty hard ass with people in terms of what the output is," says Butler. "I don't want anything that sounds pre-'85 or post-'94." The first single will be a collaboration between Butler and Jason Kendig, a formerly Detroit-based DJ who's now part of San Francisco's Honeysoundsystem crew. The duo have done a bit of producing together already, namely on an acid-inspired white label remix of Madonna's "Into the Groove" that hit stores this summer.
Their upcoming 12-inch is called And I'm (So In Love With You) and comes with remixes by Deetron and KiNK. Word has it a MR INTL tour featuring Hercules & Love Affair's new lineup (Andrew Butler, Kim Ann Foxman, Aerea Negrot and Shaun Wright) is in the works, though details on that are still forthcoming. Meanwhile, the release date for Hercules & Love Affair's next album, Blue Songs, has reportedly been pushed back to January of 2011.

MR. INTL will release And I'm (So In Love With You) digitally on August 30th. The vinyl release will come later this fall.
