  • Over the course of this month, dubstep luminary Paul Rose, AKA Scuba, will play a string of dates across the US and Canada. As a celebrated producer and the man behind Hotflush Recordings, Scuba is undoubtedly one of dubstep's most influential artists, and 2010 has been arguably his biggest year yet. In addition to releasing a armful of records, including his second album, Triangulation, he unveiled a new techno alter ego, SCB. Meanwhile, his quarterly Sub:stance party has soldiered ahead, breaking up Berghain's 4/4 routine with artists like Mala, Peverelist and Shackleton. A dab hand behind the decks himself, Scuba also helmed Sub:stance's inaugural mix CD, marking Ostgut Ton's first dubstep compilation. Beginning tonight at Vain in Detroit, Scuba will bring his blistering DJ style to seven cities in North America by the end of the month. The tour includes dates at New York's Blkmarket Membership and Montreal's Piknic Elektronic, plus a gig in Pittsburgh where he'll DJ vs himself as SCB, weaving between dubstep and techno as the night goes on.
