  • Harmonious Thelonious will release his debut album, Talking, this October on Italic. Self-described as "American minimalism vs. African drumming vs. European sequencing," Harmonious Thelonious is a project by Dusseldorf-based artist Stefan Schwander. Though he's mostly flown under the radar since his debut in 1997, Schwander has released loads of music under pseudonyms like Antonelli Electr and A Rocket In Dub. He's put out two 12-inches as Harmonious Thelonious so far, both of which combine raw recordings of live drumming with electronic sounds and a 4/4 pulse. Talking comprises four new compositions by Schwander, plus four tracks that appeared on the On Stage EP, released this year on Diskant. To get a taste of Harmonious Thelonious's signature sound, check out this video for "Aegewandte Muziek," which shows him playing with his two live companions, Marc Matter and Stefan Suhr.
