  • Canadian nightspots Supermarket and Velvet will both host a performance from London DJ and producer Floating Points next weekend. There are many reasons why 22-year-old London producer Sam Shepherd has been swooned over so much these past few months—chief among them last year's Vacuum EP through his own Eglo imprint, which married tender deep house vibes with future UK garage/dubstep sensibilities. The release was followed up earlier this year with the equally as fruity People's Potential, while Eglo (on which it was released) came in for Label of the month focus on RA earlier this month. Shepherd's DJ sets, meanwhile, are said to be nicely assorted in the vein of his productions. Shepherd's first gig of his mini Canadian tour is next Friday at Toronto venue Supermarket. The following night in Montreal he'll hit the city's Velvet Club with residents Duvall and Seb Diamond in support.
