- The duo's debut full-length, currently available via digital download, will be released on CD and vinyl later this month.
New York-based duo The Golden Filter have completed Voluspa, their first full-length release.
Named after a Nordic poem that dates back to the 13th century, Voluspa was originally scheduled for release later this month, but after the album leaked online, the band decided to make it available for download via their homepage for anyone who pre-orders the record. "Such is life in the digital age," said the group's Stephen and Penelope of the matter, "but a wise seeress could have seen it coming from miles away." The digital version will include two bonus tracks not available on the CD and vinyl release, and 20 copies of the album will include "a personalized Polaroid photo that we took, and ownership of a unique star in the sky... seriously."
Described by NME as "post-millennial disco with an icy sheen," The Golden Filter have so far released a pair of EPs on Dummy Records, and have done remixes for groups like Cut Copy, Empire of the Sun and Peter, Bjorn and John. Hide Me, the single from the upcoming full-length, will be the group's debut on Brille Recordings, a British label that houses The Knife, Good Shoes and Lucas Renney.
