  • Carl Craig will head up a party commemorating 25 years of Detroit techno at Miami's WMC this March. It has now been a quarter of a century since Juan Atkins launched his Metroplex label with "No UFOs," his first track under his Model 500 alias, and the techno phenomenon certainly doesn't look like it's going to stop any time soon. To celebrate the influence that Detroit has had on the modern electronic music landscape, nine of Michigan's best are set to travel south for one epic party, which takes place at Miami's Shore Club on the Thursday of next month's Winter Music Conference. Atkins will of course be present, joining fellow first waver Kevin Saunderson behind the decks, with Stacey Pullen, Kenny Larkin and Carl Craig representing the artists that were to follow in their footsteps. It won't just be about techno, however, as Detroit house luminaries Moodymann and Theo Parrish will both play individual sets, while enthusiastic youngsters Kyle Hall and Monty Luke will be on hand to showcase what Detroit's next generation of techno talent is all about.
