  • Tim Sweeney is set to expand his Beats In Space brand with a new label and residency. The New Yorker has been pumping out his diverse dance floor-focused concoctions on WNYU for ten years now, mixing up everything from post-punk to techno as well as securing high profile guest mixes on a regular basis. Sweeney has had quite the musical journey, starting off working out the speed of Steinski's entire record collection before becoming an internationally renowned DJ in his own right. However, it seems that the gigs and radio show aren't enough for Sweeney, as early next year will see him launch Beats In Space Records. The label's inaugural release will be from Hamburg-based house producer Tensnake, who has lit up disco-friendly dance floors this year with his "In the End (I Want You To Cry)" 12-inch. Sweeney is also set to go from coast to coast each month with his new residency in San Francisco, starting on Friday 13th November. Taking place at the city's Triple Crown venue, each month Sweeney will bring himself and another DJ over to the city, with Beats In Space regular Brennan Green the first on his list. "For me it's always fun finding tracks that people don't know about, but that sound amazing," Sweeney enthuses about the label "BIS Records and our new monthly residency in San Francisco are both exciting new ways to bring undiscovered music to an even wider audience. This year, we're bringing BIS to the next level."
