- The DC Recordings artist will follow up his Death Before Distemper mix in October.
Kel McKeown (AKA Kelpe) will unveil his third album next month.
McKeown has kepy busy since producing last year's critically well-received Ex-Aquarium, with both his new album and a mix for DC's compilation series dropping in successive months. This month's Death Before Distemper Vol. 4 sees McKeown mix up a staggering 48 tracks from the DC back catalogue, but the time is nigh for him to reveal his own material that he's been busy working on during the past 12 months.
Entitled Cambio Wechsel, the full-length again contains a mix of downtempo and dance floor-oriented material, with McKeown attempting to blur the lines between his nu-disco, wonky instrumental hip-hop and post-rock influences. Lilting dub reggae gets reappropriated into his squelchy style on "The Blankout Agreement," while nostalgic Americana even rears its head on the stomping "After Gold," but both tracks hit on a sound that is unmistakably Kelpe's, with his glitchy production style sitting atop smooth textures and grooves.
