Monolake and Omar-S to headline Unsound

- Ableton master Robert Henke will share the stage with the vinyl-obsessed FXHE boss at the '09 edition of the Krakow-based festival.
- Poland's Unsound festival is set to enter its seventh year of activity next month, with headliners including Omar-S, Monolake and Kode9. The weeklong event is based in Krakow, and is set to take over a wide array of the city's historic buildings in order to showcase its equally diverse remit of electronic and avant-garde art. Clubbers looking for a sustained fix of forward-thinking beats should look no further than the three events at Manggha, which will make sure that fans of house, techno and dubstep are more than satisfied by the wealth of international talent on offer. Thursday's party is all about the Swiss imports, with Kadebostan performing his delicate ethnic beats live alongside classically trained musicians from Belarus, before the Mountain People take to the decks for a tag-team set of infectious rolling house music. Marcel Dettmann, Shed, Monolake (who will be playing a special surround sound set via his trademark Monodeck controller), Omar-S, Spinoza and Martyn comprise the techno feast that will be offered on Friday, while us lot at RA will be co-hosting Saturday's bass-heavy bonanza, which will see performances from 2562, Untold, Ikonika, Zomby and Hyperdub boss Kode9 alongside his longstanding vocal contributor Spaceape. Although most of the main action will be going on from Thursday through until Sunday, Unsound will be holding plenty of events and workshops throughout the entire week. Highlights include a special screening of Amy Grill's Speaking In Code documentary (which includes interviews with Monolake, Modeselektor and the Wighnomy Brothers), Philip Sherburne's panel discussion on manifestos in dance music and the intriguing Systems audio/visual exhibit, which attempts to explore, "the idea of borders and political, sociological and cultural systems, including the legacy of communism."
