  • Etienne Jaumet is set to release his first solo full-length later this year. The French producer and musician started out in the '90s with folk rockers The Married Monk, before going on to assist fellow folkies in the studio as an engineer and working on his own new projects. One of these is the Krautrock-infused electro-disco outfit Zombie Zombie with Neman Herman Düne, but the sprinkling of Jaumet's solo productions that have seen the light of day so far have also garnered attention from more experimental DJs looking for mind-boggling sounds to slot into their sets. Night Music is the name of Jaumet's debut album, and we're promised plenty of "loops and hypnotism" across its five track duration. Apparently heavily inspired by the work of avant-minimalist Steve Reich, the record will also feature none other than Carl Craig on production duties. As Jaumet's friend Ivan Smagghe explains in the press release: "It may look like the ultimate safe bet, Carl Craig being one of the very few unshakable pillars in modern electronic music making, but Carl did a lot more than simply mix the album. He based his work on a common musical culture. Long talks with Etienne about Liaisons Dangereuses proved once again that Craig is the most European of all the Detroit producers. He ripped the heart of the record to bring it to its full Electronic and Psychedelic life. Without adding anything but magic, Carl Craig took what Night Music was already was and enhanced it." Tracklist 01. For Falling Asleep 02. Mental Vortex 03. Entropy 04. Through The Strata 05. At The Crack Of Dawn Versatile/Domino Records will release Etienne Jaumet's Night Music in October.
