  • Miss Fitz has been tapped as the next producer to work with the Japanese record label PowerShovelAudio. The project, which will be releaesd under Fitz's own name—Maayan Nidam—is part of PowerShovelAudio's series of records that take as much inspiration from photography as they do from music. The label—which was started by camera company Superheadz—has paired world-famous photographers with a wide variety of musicians in the past, including classical composer Nico Muhly, Australian post rockers Dirty Three and German experimentalist Jan Jelinek. Here, they've matched Nidam with Moriyama Daido, and enlisted the producer to arrange a host of source material that was recorded in Cuba by representatives of the label. The result is Night Long and—as you might expect—it's unlike almost anything that Nidam has released. Voices, woodwinds and brass are all filtered through Nidam's software: "Dime si eres tu" is a downtempo number that slides along, while "Milagro" sounds like Norah Jones meets the aforementioned Jelinek. There are a number of housier numbers, including "Soltando Chispa," but fans expecting a Miss Fitz full-length will be sorely disappointed. Tracklist 01. Dime si eres tu 02. Soltando Chispa 03. Que te has creido 04. La noche de ayer 05. Milagro 06. Oye mi ritmo 07. Tengo 08. Asi son Las cosas PowerShovelAudio will release Maayan Nidam's Night Long on April 27, 2009.
