  • Toolroom boss Mark Knight will attempt to bring back a taste of the extended set to New York City this February, as he gets set to begin his label's residency at local superclub Pacha. After a successful 2008, Knight has decided that 2009 will be the year that Toolroom begins to make strides in America. The label boss chose Pacha for the project because of the whole package that the club provided: "The sound system, the vibe, the people. I felt totally at home [when I played there last year]." What will separate Knight from the usual residency in Gotham, however, is that he'll be going it alone—in this inaugural edition at least. "I've always been fascinated by the legacy of New York clubbing, the way it was structured around one DJ and one journey all night long. From way back at studio 54 with Larry Levan to Tenaglia and Vasquez, and the legendary Sound Factory to Sasha & Digweed, but there seemed to be a hole in this legacy, so I thought it was time someone new stepped in and kept things moving."
