  • The second record in Strut's Inspiration Information series will be a collaboration from Ashley Beedle and Horace Andy. Beedle, of course, is known primarily to listeners for his work with X-Press 2 and Black Science Orchestra—as well as running the North London-based Shock Soundsystem during the early '80s, which played funk, soul and reggae as well as being one of the first soundsystems to play house music at Notting Hill Carnival. Here he returns to his roots with Studio One legend Horace Andy, but rather than crafting a straight-up reggae homage, he's thrown together all of his influences and more into this collaboration, which should surprise long-term fans of both artists. Recorded during an intensive five-day writing and recording session in London, the album fuses roots reggae with a wide range of genres that span from dancehall to dubstep. In addition to the original material, also included are covers of Bob Marley's "Hypocrites" and an acoustic version of The Rolling Stones' classic "Angie." Speaking about the album, Beedle has said that he "created some demo backing tracks to run past Horace before the sessions, but found ourselves stripping them back when we went into the studio proper. We've tried to let the tracks breathe and allow Horace's voice to shine as much as possible." You can check a sneaky preview of the album along with interviews with Ashley and Horace below. Tracklist 1. When the Rain Falls 2. Watch We 3. Seek It 4. Rasta Don't 5. Hypocrite 6. The Light 7. Angie 8. 2 Way Traffic 9. Babylon You Lose 10. Hot Hot Hot 11.
