  • Tangent, a collective of Argentinean producers, try something new this Friday with a five man live jam at Cocoliche. Manning the controls will be Franco Cinelli, Leonel Castillo, Jonas Kopp, Andres Zacco and Lucas Mari. While the locals have all played the club before, the improvised live show thinks outside the box - literally. With five artists, laptops and controllers the group is too big for the DJ booth, and will stretch out to a small stage on the dancefloor. The idea for all five to play together came from the group's past experiences messing about with laptops and records. "A few months ago, in Rosario, some of us (Leonel Castillo, Andres Zacco and Lucas Mari) got together to play a live set with laptops, jamming and improvising and it turned out very well, " Tangent told RA in a collective email. "The idea is to be able to show something never seen before in Argentina: five local producers, producing in real time. And Cocoliche is the perfect venue for this kind of performance." So will it be an Argentinean Narod Niki? "We don't know too much about what they've done. In our case it will be total improvisation, reading the dancefloor and interacting with each other. This format is ideal to improvise and show every artists potential as well as tag team; playing live without compromising the contact with the dancefloor and crowd." "In theory, we will be sticking to a standard tempo but it all depends on what happens on the night. We know the way we'll start but definitely not how we'll end up". Will it just be laptops, or will there be any other gear? "Laptops, controllers and lots of Fernet and cola." Sounds like a great night.
