  • A 3-D Aphex Twin logo surfaced in London's Elephant & Castle Underground Station. Since surfacing on Instagram, the posters have sparked speculation about a potential new album and London shows. The guerrilla marketing campaign is reminiscent of the breadcrumb trail leading up to Aphex Twin's 2014 album, Syro, which was announced with a flying blimp in London as well as logo stencils in US cities. The location of the new 3-D logo may not be coincidental. Aphex Twin (real name Richard D. James) was said to reside in a former bank vault in Elephant & Castle in the period following his seminal Come To Daddy EP. According to a tweet by journalist collective Sourdoreille, the iconic logo has since appeared in Turin, where Aphex Twin is scheduled to headline Club To Club Festival in November. The tweet also says: "A word of advice, watch the streets of Paris in the coming days." Since Syro, his first album in 13 years, Aphex Twin has released music via his own online store, Todd Osborn's Technical Equipment Supply shop and Nina Kraviz's ???? label. He has also made his return to the festival stage and will play his first Berlin gig in 15 years on November 1st.
It's not just street art that Aphex Twin is targeting. Shout out to Will Bradley for spotting the two Aphex Twin T-shirts that have appeared in recent Transport For London (TFL) documents.
