  • Beatport has acquired Pulselocker, a streaming service tailored to DJs. Before shutting down suddenly in November last year, Pulselocker offered a Spotify-style streaming service licensed for DJ use. Users could search through Pulselocker's cloud-based library from within programs like Serato and rekordbox, and tracks could then be stored offline in a user's collection. The system also allowed rights holders to accurately track and calculate royalty payments. Now Billboard reports that Beatport has purchased the shuttered company in a bid to offer its own cloud-based streaming service for DJs. Beatport CEO Robb McDaniels told Billboard that it will take six to nine months to integrate Pulselocker's technology. Users should then be able to browse Beatport's library from directly within their DJ software.
