  • Grouper's latest album, Grid Of Points, is out next month on Kranky. For the eight-track effort, Grouper, real name Liz Harris, returns to the spare piano and voice songs that defined her previous LP, 2014's Ruins. The label says she recorded Grid Of Points in Wyoming, where she had traveled to work on art and music. "I wrote these songs over a week and a half; they stopped abruptly when I was interrupted by a high fever," Harris says. "The intimacy and abbreviation of this music allude to an essence ...[of] space left after matter has departed, a stage after the characters have gone, the hollow of some central column, missing." Since the release of Ruins, Harris has slipped out a single and a bonus track via her Bandcamp page and put out an album with a dream-pop band called Helen. Though Kranky will release Grid Of Points, Harris will issue a handmade, limited edition of the record on her own Yellow Electric imprint via Bandcamp. Listen to "Parking Lot."
