Movement Detroit announces 2018 lineup

  • Movement Detroit has announced the full lineup for its 2018 edition, set to go down May 26 through 28 in Hart Plaza. Festival organizer Paxahau, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2018, say this year's Movement will "feature new designs and elements" across all five stages. For the second year running, Resident Advisor will program The Underground Stage, situated among the Movement Stage, Red Bull Music Academy Stage, Stargate Stage and Pyramid Stage. As usual, the festival will run over the Memorial Day weekend holiday, beginning on Saturday and ending Monday evening. Dirtybird boss and festival regular Claude VonStroke will headline the Movement Stage on Saturday, with Loco Dice and The Martinez Brothers closing things out with a back-to-back set the following night. Seminal hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan will mark their 25th anniversary with a main stage closing slot on Monday. Other announced acts include Diplo, John Digweed, Joseph Capriati, Dubfire, Modeselektor, Anthony Parasole, Avalon Emerson, Beautiful Swimmers, Aurora Halal, Helena Hauff, Radio Slave and KiNK. Marcel Dettmann, Nina Kraviz, Laurent Garnier, Ellen Allien, Tiga and Maceo Plex will also be on hand, as will Dirtybird affiliates Justin Martin and J.Phlip. Detroit artists tapped to perform include Andrés, Black Noi$e, Blake Baxter, Delano Smith, Mark Flash, Mike Huckaby, Ectomorph, DJ Stingray and Kevin Saunderson, who will also being taking part in an Inner City live set.
