  • Resident Advisor is hosting a charity evening featuring talks and a film screening at Everyman Baker Street on October 3rd. The event, which forms part of War Child Film Festival (WCFF), will run from 7:30 PM through 10 PM and will be split into three parts. First, Dr. Beate Peter, whose experiences at the heart of Berlin's music scene led to a PhD on club culture and the unconscious, will give a talk exploring unity in dance music. That'll be followed by the first public showing of Real Scenes: London since its June release, before ethnomusicologist (and RA contributor) Luis-Manuel Garcia rounds out the session by dissecting the cultural evolution of London's nightlife. Garcia is responsible for key RA features on sexuality and drugs policies in club culture. All profits, ticket sales and booking fees will be donated to War Child, a UK-based NGO that supports children affected by war in countries like Syria, Yemen and Afghanistan. Real Scenes: London explores the city's ever-changing musical landscape, speaking to many of the artists, promoters and venue owners trying to stay afloat. Listen to our Exchange with Luis-Manuel Garcia.
