  • Behringer intend to create an entire line of synthesisers. Synthtopia has posted a video showing founder Uli Behringer being asked about his budget music company's future plans at a corporate event before the NAMM conference in Anaheim in January. "We can't stop this anymore—we're going all in," he says, before describing plans to hire more engineers to build "everything that you guys want," meaning an entire line of synths, with the cheapest option retailing for $49. He also claims the thread on the Gearslutz forum surrounding the company's first synth, the DeepMind 12, is the most-viewed thread in the site's history. A $49 synth would place Behringer in competition with companies like Korg, whose Monotron line of synths helped kickstart the trend toward small, affordable analogue devices. However, the DeepMind 12 was teased since at least July 2016, meaning any expansion of the Behringer line probably won't occur any time soon. Behringer is part of a larger conglomerate of music companies called Music Group, which features brands like Midas, Turbosound and TC Electronic. Watch the video with Uli Behringer.
