  • A new club is opening in Birmingham, UK, in March. Scru Club, also written as [ scru:club ], is a former 19th-century screw factory next to the River Rea in Digbeth, a former industrial area that now forms part of Birmingham's city centre. The venue will undergo a three-stage transformation, launching in March as a 1000-capacity space before expanding to 1500 in April and 4000 in July, when the outdoor terrace will open to the public. VOID Acoustics will handle the sound, installing the world's first Nexus system. Scru will host events on Fridays and Saturdays. Friday, dubbed Continuum, will cater to fans of bass music, from dubstep and drum & bass to grime, while Saturday, titled [ scru:club ] presents, is all about house and techno. No lineups have been announced yet, and the club is still to set a date for the opening party.
