  • William Basinski's new LP A Shadow In Time is out via Temporary Residence Limited now. The experimental producer is best known for The Disintegration Loops, landmark studies in tape decay that were eventually compiled into a massive box set. The new album continues to explore the ghostly quality of tape loops, offering up a tribute to a lost friend on the title track, which uses the Voyetra 8 synthesizer. The record opens with "For David Robert Jones," a track dedicated to David Bowie that was originally commissioned by LA gallery Volume. That one works in some sax off of "Subterraneans," the closing track on Bowie's vaunted Low LP, as well as tape loops that were chewed up by Basinski's "roommate’s cat in New York, this big fat motherfucker." It's Basinski's first full-length work since 2015's two-part LP series, Cascade and The Deluge. Tracklist 01. For David Robert Jones 02.
