  • Wolf Eyes has launched a new label called Lower Floor Music. The trio, now made up of John Olson, Nate Young and Jim Baljo, formed in 1996. They've been an undeniable force in American noise and experimental music over the past two decades, releasing music on larger labels like Sub Pop and Jack White's Third Man while running prolific underground imprints like Hanson and American Tapes. A press release announcing the new label explains the breadth of their output to date: "Since 1998 the band has generated a massive tidal wave of releases nearly adding up to over 500 titles; mostly limited from 2 to 100 copies," it says. "Released on American Tapes, Hanson, AA, Warzone and countless other independent/homemade labels, these documents often vanished forever into the arcane crypts of collectors." Lower Floor, on the other hand, will benefit from worldwide distribution, and plans to release "new and archival visions from the band as well as work by like-minded artists." The first release is a new Wolf Eyes album, Undertow. Listen to the title track.
