Young Marco has overseen the second compilation in Dekmantel's Selectors series.
The Amsterdam DJ and producer, real name Marco Sterk, says he chose not to stack Selectors 002 with expensive or "holy grail" records. "Where's the fun in that?" he says. "Anybody with an internet connection can check what flavor-of-the-month records are in demand."
Among the compilation's ten tracks are tunes from Larry Heard and Düsseldorf's Wolf Mu¨ller, plus selections from lesser-known artists. Dekmantel started the Selectors compilation series, whose focus is on deep-digging DJs, with Motor City Drum Ensemble's Selectors 001. A festival of the same name launched in Croatia back in September. The first names for the festival's 2017 edition were recently announced.
Selectors 002 will be released on double-vinyl and CD. Listen to samples.
