  • Carl Craig will release an album, titled Versus, that sees music from his catalogue reinterpreted by an orchestra. "Versus is my desire and dream come true to have my music interpreted by an orchestra," says Craig, who debuted the project in 2008 in Paris, performing live with Les Siècles orchestra conducted by François-Xavier Roth, with Moritz von Oswald and Francesco Tristano also joining him on stage. The album, which is being co-released by Planet E and InFiné, features eight of the Detroit artist's techno cuts adapted for orchestra. Though the tracklist is yet to be revealed, orchestral versions of two Craig classics—"Sandstorms" and "Desire"—were aired on Benji B's BBC Radio 1 show this week. The project will tour live next year. The "Versus Synthesizer Ensemble" show will see Craig joined on stage by five musicians, "interpreting the music from the album on to a synthesizer wall." The first tour dates will be announced in January of 2017. Watch a recording session for Versus from 2010, recorded by Electronic Beats for its Slices series.
