  • Brooklyn Steel will open at 319 Frost Street in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn in spring 2017. The 1800-capacity music venue has been in the works since 2014, and now they've announced an opening date along with some of the acts. Pixies, PJ Harvey, Animal Collective and Tycho are among the list of headliners, which skews heavily towards indie rock shows. It's owned by Bowery Presents, the promotion and management company that also owns Terminal 5, Music Hall Of Williamsburg, Rough Trade and Bowery Ballroom, among other venues in New York, Boston and Philadelphia. In a press release from today they call it "the largest general admission venue in Brooklyn." The 20,000-square foot hall will feature "raised platforms and a mezzanine" as well as three bars, 40 bathrooms and "three dressing rooms with full bathrooms with washers and dryers." There will be an estimated 50 to 60 people working various positions in the venue. No specific dates have been announced yet.
