  • Spanish police today raided Ibiza clubs Ushuaïa Beach Hotel and Pacha as part of an ongoing operation targeting tax fraud. Spanish newspaper El Mundo reports that police and tax officials entered the two clubs early this morning, September 15th. (Pacha was raided at 6:30 AM, with Ushuaïa hit around 8 AM.) According to Diario De Ibiza, police also visited the Ibiza offices of Grupo Empresas Matutes (GEM), the parent company of Palladium Hotel Group, which oversees Ushuaïa. Diario De Ibiza says that GEM representatives have acknowledged the raids on the offices and Ushuaïa and won't be making a statement for now. Ushuaïa and Pacha are being investigated as part of Operation Chopin, which has already seen police conduct similar raids at Ibiza spots Space and Privilege this summer. Operation Chopin is a nationwide campaign that's so far seen 87 different venues investigated. This week it was revealed that Pacha Group, the conglomerate behind the world-famous nightclub franchise, is up for sale for €500 million.
