- Goldmann's full-length takes cues from the Swiss documentary of the same name.
Stefan Goldmann and Finn Johannsen's Macro label has announced a series of releases leading up to its tenth anniversary.
Originally conceived by the Berlin-based Goldmann as a home for his more conceptual work, the imprint has put out records by the likes of KUF, rRoxymore and his late father, the composer Friedrich Goldmann, over the last year. In keeping with the label's high-minded bent, Goldmann's first foray into soundtrack work stems from an experimental documentary called A1 by brothers Tobi and Mike Müller. The Swiss film "traverses through time and space along Switzerland’s first and most elongated highway structure," attempting to address the "social, migratory and ecological costs and benefits of rapid movement," the label says. Goldmann has written a 19-track accompaniment for the documentary and it will be made available as a standalone album in October.
Macro also has two weighty compilations due in November. Macrospective 2 is a DJ mix from Goldmann and Johannsen taking stock of the label's output and acting as the follow-up to the first volume in 2011. They'll also issue Vinylism 2, which they describe as "our best tracks, available digitally in vinyl quality." We'll have more details on those collections soon.
