- The Turin-based artist combines organic instruments, samples and field recordings for an experimental soul sound.
Yves Tumor will release his debut album via PAN Records later this month.
Singer, producer and performance artist Sean Bowie was raised in Tennessee and now resides in Turin, Italy. He previously recorded as Teams, but debuted the Yves Tumor project last year with an EP for Berlin's experimental club label Janus, and another one in April for Dogfood MG, the label run by American rapper Mykki Blanco. Next up is a full-length for PAN, Serpent Music, which he's been working on for the last three years.
It was initially composed as a soul record, though the scope expanded during the recording process to incorporate samples, field recordings and unconventional studio techniques. "From melodic choral vocals and soaring synths," the label writes, "to screeching guitar riffs, dramatic spoken word samples and live drumming, Serpent Music evidently moves through a strange and intriguing personal journey."
