  • The Verboten building has been bought by the former owner of now-closed nightclub Pacha NYC. Eddie Dean was among those bidding for the Williamsburg dance spot's lease back in June. He won the auction in bankruptcy court yesterday for $1.2 million. His team plans to open a new event space by the fall of 2016 that is "dedicated to the creative ethos of Brooklyn," and to the "global dance music scene," they say in a press release. Prior to opening Pacha NYC in 2005, Dean also ran Brooklyn clubs Faces, Ruby's and Rock 'n' Jocks in the '90s. "I started my nightlife career in Brooklyn so it's only fitting that I return here now," he says. The news comes only four months after Verboten was seized by New York state for failing to pay over $360,000 in outstanding taxes.
