  • The mayor of Detroit has declared May 23rd to May 30th to be Detroit Techno Week. Detroit has played host to Movement since 2000. Over 100,000 people from all around the world flocked to Hart Plaza in Downtown for the three-day event last year. During Movement, "Detroit becomes a tourist destination for music lovers," Mayor Mike Duggan wrote in his certificate of recognition, which officially acknowledged Detroit Techno Week. "I encourage all to come out and celebrate the festivities, as it creates local and international awareness of Detroit's rising creative culture." Movement 2016 begins this Saturday and ends on Monday, with numerous afterparties extending into the small hours of Tuesday morning. Headliners include Kraftwerk, Modeselektor and Nina Kraviz, as well as local heroes like Carl Craig, Mike Huckaby and Juan Atkins.
