  • New Morning will host Playin' 4 The City on Tuesday, June 7th. Having reformed Playin' 4 The City at Djoon in November 2015, Olivier Portal will perform on June 7th at jazz venue New Morning with the same musicians—Slikk Tim (bass), Loic Gayot (saxophone and flute) and Olivier Bridot (trumpet)—plus vocalist Marilyn David, who joins this time. Parisian producer Flabaire, who released his first LP on D.KO in March, will also perform live, while Portal's Straight Up Recording former associate Betino and Parisian collectives La Mamie's and Briefly Established take care of the decks. A moniker under which French producer Olivier Portal originally released his first EP in 1996, Playin' 4 The City progressively evolved into a collective of various musicians and vocalists that toured worldwide, earning a residency at Mad Bar in Chicago for two years before its members parted ways. In 2014, Olivier Portal returned a decade after his last release with a 3-track EP on Plastik People. He will also perform at Macki Music Festival on Sunday, July 3rd.
