  • Prolific reissue label Dark Entries has announced the latest in its Edition series: four tough-to-come-by Italo disco records. First up is GHIBLI, the solo project of Alberto Garbelli which takes its name from the North African desert wind as well as a Maserati car model, with "I'm Looking For You." Originally released on Durium records in 1985, it was inspired by the operatic vocal stylings of Klaus Nomi and Nina Hagen. The EP was mixed by Garbelli's friend, Studio 54 DJ Tony Carrasco. Next up, label boss Josh Cheon looks to the Bergamo trio Some Bizarre. The band was made up of Marino Scarabelli, Tiberio "Tyber" Scarfone and Stefano Brignoli. The group's first production, "Don't Be Afraid," was released in 1983 on Il Discotto and the vocal melody is lifted from Bach's "Toccata And Fugue in D Minor." Brand Image was essentially the same band with the addition of vocalist Mauro Farina. That group's single, "Are You Loving," also receives a reissue on Dark Entries in April. The final 12-inch in the quartet of releases is Dario Dell'Aere "Eagles In The Night." The 1985 cut is one of the most coveted Italo tracks; the original goes for nearly $450 on Discogs. The eight-minute song was the debut solo single for the Bowie-obsessed producer, who typically worked with Victor Life. Listen to previews of GHIBLI's "I'm Looking For You" below.
