- The South African artist has just released a new four-tracker.
Angel-Ho's Emancipation EP landed today on NON.
The Cape Town producer and performance artist dropped an EP, Ascension via Rabit's label, Halcyon Veil last year. He's also released a string of singles via NON, the experimental label he co-founded that focuses on African and Afro-diasporic artists. Emancipation is a four-tracker that features Johannesburg-based writer and performer Desire Marea, as well as a remix of American R&B artist Keyshia Cole.
Like many of the tracks in NON's catalogue, the EP is influenced by the label's anti-colonial and anti-patriarchal politics. "I wanted to make tracks that became an emancipating, unifying experience for the listener," Angel-Ho writes on Bandcamp. "It is for our relative black queer trans communities, it is our time to get our reparations and these tracks become collections and our reclaiming of our erased narratives."
