  • Tresor will celebrate 25 years of operation with a series of parties throughout 2016. Tresor is one of techno's most important clubs. Founded in Berlin in 1991, it played a pivotal role in connecting the emerging German and US techno scenes, hosting some of the first international gigs by influential figures such as Jeff Mills, Blake Baxter and Mike Banks. The club has since moved from its original location, and is now housed in a disused power plant in Berlin's Mitte district. Six of the upcoming birthday events are going down at home in Berlin. The lineups are still TBA, but you can expect Tresor associates new and old to be stepping up for slots. It begins with a party on March 12th, with fives dates following over the next few months (the final party goes down on October 8th). Included in those six events is the three-day Tresor Festival, which will take over the club from July 21st through 23rd. The rest of the 25-year parties will be held across Europe, Australia and the US. Tresor will throw a party Detroit for the first time on May 28th, a significant moment in the club's relationship with the city (founder Dimitri Hegemann also has plans to open a club there). There will be an event at Culture Box in Copenhagen with TR-101 and DJ Deep on July 21st, with other dates in Rome (April 16th), Amsterdam (April 30th), London (May 7th), Melbourne (June 17th), Sydney (June 18th), Paris (June 18th), Serbia (July 9th) and Madrid (July 30th). The lineups for these are TBA. A "monumental compilation" is also planned for release at the end of the year, but details are also yet to be revealed. The club has announced some of the names with releases planned on its label offshoot, who include Juan Atkins and Moritz von Oswald (as Borderland), Objekt, Mike Huckaby, Dasha Rush and Marcelus. "The message from 25 years of Tresor is just as its always been, and as topical as ever," says Dimitri Hegemann. "Give young people space to realize their ideas. Say yes to their experiments."
