  • Three new synths from Roland are set to appear later this year. "New" is relative, though. The synths, which form the Japanese manufacturer's new Boutique series, are new versions of a trio of classics: the Jupiter-8, Juno-106 and JX-3P. The Boutique synths—dubbed the JP-08, JU-06 and JX-03, respectively—are digital recreations, utilizing Roland's Analog Circuit Behavior technology to achieve the sound of the original analog gear. They're highly compact, playable either through integration into a larger studio setup or with the optional K-25m keyboard, which the synths can be mounted to; the devices also have built-in speakers. In addition to synth-specific controls, each synth boasts a step sequencer and dual ribbon controls. Two or more of the same model can also be chained together to expand their four-note polyphony. Roland has not yet announced pricing and release dates, but we're told to expect them to ship within the next few months. You can read more about Roland here.
