  • Italian techno producer Giorgio Gigli has completed work on his debut album, The Right Place Where Not To Be. Gigli is among Italy's most influential techno artists. Though he's only releasing his first album now, he's been active since the early '00s. He emerged amidst one of Italian techno's most fertile and important periods, during which producers and labels like Donato Dozzy, Eletronica Romana and Minimal Rome first began garnering serious attention (Gigli and Dozzy provided Elettronica Romana's first release, the Chiki Disco EP). Gigli was one of the driving forces behind the dark and loopy brand of techno Italy became known for throughout the '00s, which was explored in Todd L. Burns's Italians Do It Darker feature a few years ago. The Right Place Where Not To Be comprises eight tracks in Gigli's signature moody, atmospheric style. Most tracks are between four and six minutes long, making them shorter than the extended, expansive trips found on most of his singles, though his affinity for gloomy track titles—"Eve Of Destruction," "The Silence Was Infinite," "Shades Of Depth"—remains. The album lands on Electric Deluxe on October 23rd, on vinyl and digital formats. An Electric Deluxe label night at Gashouder during ADE on October 18th will serve as its official release party. Tracklist 01. Il futuro è solo un ricordo di uno stupendo passato (Everything Begins Here) 02. Last Frame of Myself 03. Surrounded 04. Eve of Destruction 05. Nocturne 06. The Silence Was Infinite 07. Through Leaden Clouds 08. Shades Of Depth Electric Deluxe will release The Right Place Where Not To Be on October 23rd, 2015.
