  • Amsterdam's Rush Hour Music has a retrospective on Ron Trent's Prescription label in the pipeline. The boxset, titled Prescription: Word, Sound & Power, is slated for release towards the end of this year. "Starting from Inception, which was 1993, we're trying to get various aspects of the label," says Trent. "As time went on the label changed, the sound changed. Sometimes the material that we picked up from other people changed as well. So we are aiming to secure the essence of Prescription, what it used to be and what it still is." Though full details of the compilation have yet to be revealed, we do know it'll feature the following Ron Trent tunes: "The Answer" (recorded as World, Sky & Universes), an unreleased track called "Energy" and a collaboration with Anthony Nicholson called "Life 4 Living" produced as USG. Trent has overseen Prescription since 1996—from 1993 through '96 he ran it with Chez Damier. The label was a key outlet for a wave of deep house from the likes of Romanthony, Heaven & Earth and Trent's own projects. Watch the video below to find out more about the retrospective.
