  • Korg has announced details of two new hardware samplers. They're each part of two of the Japanese company's well known hardware lines. (You can read more about Korg here.) The first sampler is the fourth member of the Volca series, sporting its familiar small footprint but an all-white casing. You can edit and sequence up to 100 samples, choosing from an assortment of sounds that come with the unit or your own material (loaded in via a free iOS app). For effects, you get an all-analog isolator (for bass and treble), a reverb effect that can be assigned per part and the ability to play samples backward. It's MIDI-enabled, meaning you can sync it with just about anything, but it's also got proprietary sync inputs so that it'll fit into an existing Volca setup. Next up is the Electribe sampler, taking its name from the company's famous grooveboxes. It's a bit more kitted out than the Volca, with room for 250 patterns, an onboard synth engine, the ability to save and export patterns as Ableton Live sets and a number of performance and effects features. Korg has yet to set release dates for either box. For now, you can check out the Volca Sample in action via the video below.
The Volca Sample and Electribe Sampler are coming soon from Korg.
