- The new EP from the Chicago juke artist is due out next week.
DJ Slugo has signed to Other People for a new EP on June 30th.
Slugo, real name Thomas Kendricks, is a veteran of the ghetto house and juke scene in Chicago, having racked up an impressive discography of albums and EPs on labels like Dance Mania and Ghetto Series since the mid-'90s. Active well into the new millennium, King Of Ghetto House EP is nevertheless Kendricks' first release since 2010, and one that collects some tracks that have been floating around for a bit. There's no word yet on whether the relationship between label and artist will lead to future releases, but for now you can listen to clips over at Wordandsound.
Since launching last summer, Nicolas Jaar's newest label has released a wide variety of music, including the pastoral electronics of Vtgnike, Valentin Stip's techno, and the spacey blues-rock of his own DARKSIDE project.
