  • The second Foundry will take place in Toronto from March 14 through April 5th. Held for the first time last year, Foundry is a series of warehouse parties from local promoter Mansion which happen over three weekends in the spring. The first edition took place at BLK BOX, a warehouse-style venue that is now sadly defunct. This year's parties will instead take place at the historic Tower Automotive building on Sterling Rd near the Junction Triangle, a venue that will be specially outfitted by the Mansion crew for the festival (which includes interactive installations and more). Each night is curated in partnership with a different promoter or DJ, including Gingy, breakandenter, Box Of Kittens and Evening Standard. This year's booking policy is pretty open-ended, though with an obvious focus on techno and house. The first weekend will feature headliners Four Tet, Anthony Shake Shakir and Purity Ring (who will DJ), along with Blue Hawaii, Shigeto and Katie Stelmanis from Austra. The second weekend, landing on March 21st and 22nd, will feature Dial man Efdemin at the controls on the Friday alongside Cosmin TRG and local Nautiluss, while DJ Harvey will play Saturday. Finally, on April 4th, Foundry will host an RA showcase boasting Shed, Skudge and the How Does It Make You Feel boys—Kevin McPhee, David Patterson and Michael Krochak—with Carl Craig wrapping up Foundry's final event the night after.
