  • Several high-profile clubs have scheduled parties in protest of Russia's anti-homosexual propaganda law. The law, which was passed in June with full parliamentary support, made it illegal to distribute information about homosexuality to anyone under 18. The decision sparked street violence in Moscow, and has brought anti-gay sentiment to the fore. It has also attracted fierce international criticism. In response, three clubs—Berghain/Panorama Bar in Berlin, New York's Output and Harry Klein in Munich—will hold Promote Diversity parties in September, with more set to follow suit. An Ostgut Ton mailout stated: "Equality and tolerance are basic values that the club and music scene has always supported. Sometimes we have to remind ourselves that the level of freedom we have achieved cannot be taken for granted, be it here or elsewhere." The full admission charge for the night will be donated to All Out, an organisation that supports LGBT rights globally. The event at Berghain/Panorama Bar will take place on Thursday, September 12th, with the other clubs hosting their parties over the same weekend. The lineups and opening times for the parties are yet to be confirmed.
